Stewart – STAR Student

Georgia Military College Prep School senior Kenneth Stewart was named the top academic scholar in Baldwin County during the Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program held Tuesday, February 27, 2007, and hosted by the Milledgeville Chamber of Commerce.

The son of Dr. and Mrs. Michael Stewart of Milledgeville, Ga., Kenneth was honored with a $1,000 scholarship and plaque in recognition of holding the highest SAT score among his peers in Baldwin County. He now has the opportunity to compete at both the regional and state levels. Kenneth chose MAJ Shannon Davis as his STAR teacher, stating she has been the best teacher he ever had.

Kenneth Stewart has been a student at Georgia Military College since the 6th grade and has held the highest academic average for his class every year. He is currently an executive officer of the ROTC program and holds the rank of Cadet Major. He is Chairperson of Honor Council; a member of Youth Leadership Baldwin, the National Honor Society, Who\’s Who Among American High School Students, the GMC Literary Team, and the GMC Math Team; and serves as Secretary of the Spanish Honor Society. He participates in Joint Enrollment at GMC by taking college courses and is a member of the soccer team. In addition to earning first place in the 2006 Region Literacy Spelling Competition, he has received the UGA Certificate of Merit, Presbyterian College Junior Fellow Award, Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, and the Nancy Kennedy Reading Achievement Award, and he has received the Principal’s Award for four years. He will be honored as Valedictorian this year and plans to attend Georgia Tech.
