Parks is GADE President

Ms. Judy Parks, Georgia Military College Assistant Professor of English, recently assumed the presidency of the Georgia Association of Developmental Education (GADE) during the GADE Learning Support Conference in St. Simons. Parks is the first non-Regents school member to serve as GADE president. Some of her duties include acting as the executive officer for GADE, presiding at all GADE and executive committee meetings, appointing other committee members as needed, and planning the program for the annual GADE meeting.

In addition, Parks said she plans to build greater communication among GADE members across the state by implementing a shared-ideas practice through which individual members will contribute and distribute their favorite teaching ideas to the entire GADE membership. Her term will run until April 2008, when she will move to the position of Past-President and, as such, will continue to serve with the executive board as chair of the awards and nominating committees.

The Georgia Association of Developmental Education (GADE) is the state arm of the National Association of Developmental Education which seeks to improve the theory and practice of developmental education at all levels of the educational spectrum, the professional capabilities of developmental educators, and the design of programs to prepare developmental educators.
