Leah Prestwood Receives Distinguished Graduating Student Award

Ms. Leah Prestwood, a sophomore at Georgia Military College, was recently recognized as one of the community’s brightest and most celebrated students when she received the GMC Distinguished Graduating Student Award during the Memorial Day Parade on May 16, 2008. This award recognizes a graduating student that is the best representative of the college and embodies all the qualities a graduate of Georgia Military College should possess.

Leah maintains a 4.0 GPA and has a number of academic honors to her credit. In addition to her academic excellence, she is an important asset to the GMC softball team. Many of Leah’s instructors, though, cite Leah’s most impressive contribution as her ability to motivate and lead her peers to success. When asked to comment on Leah’s overall achievement, softball coach Kelly Zeilstra said, “Leah is conscience, a tireless worker, very intelligent and a leader…a tremendous joy… we will miss her.”

One student from each of Georgia Military College’s campus received this honor. The other Distinguished Graduating Students are: Eric Drake-GMC Augusta; Tamaro Ellis-GMC Atlanta; Renett Hambrick-GMC Valdosta; Helen Porter-GMC Warner Robins; and James Sayers-GMC Columbus.
