History Day Winners

GMC Prep School Students to Compete in State History Day Competition

(Milledgeville, GA) March 8, 2006 – Two Georgia Military College prep school students won the National History Day Competition held at Georgia College & State University on March 3, 2006. Rebecca Anne Autry, a senior, was the first place winner in the individual essay contest for the senior division with her paper about General John Bell Hood. She is the daughter of Dr. Ken and Lisa Autry of Milledgeville. Alvin Huff, a tenth grader, placed first in the individual documentary category with his slide show about the Attica Prison Rebellion. He is the son of Pecola Huff, of Milledgeville. These students will compete in the state finals to be held at Macon State College on Saturday, May 6, 2006.
