GMC Prep School announces board winners

Board Winners: Jacob Kauzlarich, Davis Isley, Jack Watkins, Andy Watkins, Derik Hayles, Mattison Strom

GMC’s Preparatory School recently announced the winners of 1st and 2nd Quarter NCO, Cadet, and Officer Boards, which are run by seniors in leadership positions.  Many distinguished cadets presented their general knowledge on military topics, first aid, map reading, current events, GMC’s History, the chain of command, communication, appearance and their accomplishments to their superiors.  The boards selected the winning cadets who excelled in all of these categories along with their overall military bearing.

Quarter 1 Winners:
Cadet Board – Jacob Kauzlarich
NCO Board – Davis Isley
Officer Board – Jack Watkins

Quarter 2 Board Winners:
Cadet Board – Mattison Strom
NCO Board – Derik Hayles
Officer Board – Andy Watkins

Cadet Captain Jack Watkins, the Headquarters Company XO and Raider Commander, has demonstrated great leadership this year in supporting the Raider Team. He has outstanding grades and military bearing. Jack is a senior and plans to attend Ohio State University on a 4-year Army ROTC scholarship.

Cadet Sergeant First Class Davis Isley, of Headquarters Company, is the platoon sergeant of Raider Platoon.  He is also in charge of Wreaths Across America, which raises money for wreaths on veteran’s graves at Christmas. He is a junior and is also on the wrestling and raider teams.

Cadet Corporal Jacob Kauzlarich, also in Headquarters Company, is an outstanding student and freshman. He is part of the raider team and works very well with others.

Cadet Captain Andy Watkins, from Headquarters Company is the assistant S-3 for 2nd battalion.  He demonstrates great academics and is involved in many school activities like One Act Play and soccer.  Andy is a senior and plans to attend the University of Notre Dame.

Cadet Sergeant First Class Derik Hayles, is also in Headquarters Company, and is the platoon sergeant of the Drill team platoon. Derik is a junior and a very determined person and does his best on any task you give him.

Cadet Mattison Strom, from Band Company is a great student and freshman at GMC.  Along with playing in the band, she also runs on the cross country team.

2nd Battalion JROTC is very proud of our board winners and congratulates each of them on their awards.
