GMC Prep Names Linda Evans 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year

Georgia Military College Preparatory School Names 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year

Georgia Military College Preparatory School has named Linda Evans as the 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year. Evans teaches 7th grade English and Language Arts, and is the Junior Beta Club Sponsor.

The Milledgeville native graduated from Georgia College in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grades Education, then completed her Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy at Walden University. Evans began her teaching career at the former Davis Elementary School, teaching 4th and 5th grade, and is now at GMC Prep School, in her 23rd year of teaching, her 11th at GMC. She says GMC Prep School is a special place.

“GMC Prep School is such a special place for me as I have a strong support system among my colleagues, students, and their families. The environment, leadership, friendships, and connections are irreplaceable. I know how lucky I am to be at such a wonderful place and am honored to work among so many outstanding teachers. They all put so much time, effort, and love into their work. To be named Teacher of the Year is a huge honor. It’s a humbling experience and I’m truly honored and grateful for this recognition.”

Evans says her favorite part of teaching is making connections.

“Connecting with students is the best blessing, and I’m so thankful God led me on this journey,” said Evans. “Teaching isn’t just a 9-5 career; it’s my life. I hope my students have learned many educational objectives, but I would hope that the main thing they always remember is that someone is always in their corner. There is never a moment in life when one should feel isolated or alone. No matter what struggles, hardships, or even celebrations come their way, I am on their team. One should never feel as if they have to face difficult times alone, and one should never feel as if they have no-one to celebrate with. To succeed alone is just as bad, if not worse, than failing alone.”

Pam Grant, Principal of GMC Prep School, says Evans is the perfect choice for Teacher of the Year.

“Linda Evans truly has the gift of teaching and is able to instill a love of learning in each of her students,” Grant said. “She is extremely creative in her teaching methods, which allows her to reach her students the ways they learn best. Mrs. Evans is a daily inspiration to her students, and we are truly blessed to have her as part of our GMC Prep School family.”

Congratulations to Linda Evans as GMC Prep School’s 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year!
