Georgia Military College Launches Community Response Campaign in Response to COVID-19

In light of the Coronavirus pandemic, Georgia Military College (GMC) recognizes that families in Georgia are facing many challenges. To help our communities during this time of need, and to add to their community efforts to recover, GMC has committed funds to be used to provide additional scholarships at all of our 15 campuses across the state of Georgia.  These scholarships will be awarded to future students within our communities to lighten their financial burden to obtain a college education.

“We are thankful that we are able to offer these additional scholarships across the state of Georgia within each of the communities where a GMC campus is located.” said Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, President of GMC. “These scholarships are designed to help those in our communities during these challenging times that are now seeking an opportunity to obtain a college degree.”

Each campus has established their own community response scholarship effort. At GMC’s Milledgeville and Madison campuses, their campaign offers workers affected by COVID-19 (who have lost their jobs, have seen reduced hours, etc) with a scholarship that will reduce their tuition, books, and fees by 50 percent. The scholarship can be applied for up to 12 credit hours in both the summer and fall terms, and all tuition payments will be postponed until November 2, 2020. A payment plan can also be established as necessary. These scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis to 25 new students.

In the Metro-Atlanta area, GMC’s Fairburn, Fayetteville, Stone Mountain, and Zebulon campuses are offering the first five credit hours free to all local healthcare workers and their dependents. The discount is valid for any new student to the Metro-Atlanta regional campuses.

The scholarships will be available for any new GMC student that registers for classes this summer and for classes that begin in August for the fall quarter.
