GMC Celebrates National Signing Day

National Signing Day is always big for GMC football. It is our chance to thank the players who have given their heart and soul to the program and also bask in the glow of their success.

GMC has a long history of success in helping players get to the next level. In the twenty-nine years of the program, 572 student-athletes have been provided with the opportunity to continue their education and football careers on scholarship at all levels of NCAA and NAIA. 380 of these young men moving on to FBS and FCS universities and 49 Bulldogs have also made it to the NFL.

2020 Singing day has no doubt added to this legacy with three additional players ready to ink their deals today. OL Tyrone Kelsey (Tennessee State University), CB Keylin Roach (Marshall University), and RB Travell "TJ" Jones (Tusculum University).  These three Bulldogs join mid-year signees Cameron Brown (Savannah State University), Damion Daley (Appalachian State), Braylon Peterson (Georgia Southern University), Dominick Knowles (Kennesaw State University), Marvin Dallas (University of Louisville) and All Americans, Trevor Reid (University of Louisville), and YaYa Diaby (University of Louisville) raising the total of signees to 10 for the growing Class of 2020.

Coach Bert Williams commented, "These guys all come in here with a goal, my staff and I work tirelessly to meet our mission to help them get to the next level." I am appreciative of the effort they put in both on the field and in the classroom and know that what they have learned here will help them be successful in the future."

The Bulldogs still have several other players in the decision-making process who will likely be ready to commit soon. The recruiting climate has changed dramatically with the NCAA portal and that has trickled down into the junior college ranks.  "We have 5-6 guys that have offers in hand that are delaying and weighing their options before making their final decisions," commented Coach Williams, "It is simply a different, frequently changing landscape for both teams and student-athletes in today's college recruiting."  One thing is certain though, GMC Bulldogs football continues to be a leader in preparing its student-athletes to excel at the highest levels. This program like all the athletic programs truly embodies the GMC motto of "Start Here, Go Anywhere."
