GMC-Augusta saves 75 lives at blood drive

Georgia Military College’s Augusta campus held its Back to School Blood Drive, in partnership with the Shepeard Community Blood Center on Thursday, August 22, 2019. Among the staff, faculty, and students, 25 donors participated by donating on the Bloodmobile.  These donors saved 75 lives in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA)!

There is truly no substitute for blood. Blood donations help victims of accidents, cancer patients, burn patients, those diagnosed with sickle cell, and premature babies.  Georgia Military College wants students to learn to contribute to the well-being of others, as well as to the community in which they live, through volunteering and being active participants in the area where they live. GMC’s mission statement is “to produce educated citizens and contributing members of society…” Hosting the Bloodmobile each quarter helps to further this mission and benefits our students and the many lives that they touch through giving.
