We have plans to provide extensions and support for those affected with the goal of completing the term. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities, and we’ll be flexible and supportive as we move forward. For those who cannot make it to campus, GMC will make every effort to work with you individually. Additionally, we are closely monitoring the development and potential impact of Hurricane Milton. At this time, the storm’s path is being tracked carefully, and there is no immediate cause for alarm in our area. GMC-Augusta hosts volunteer fair

(GMC Augusta’s Community Involvement Club hosted a Volunteer Fair with 14 different organizations.)

On Tuesday, April 18th, the Community Involvement Club hosted a Volunteer fair at the GMC-Augusta campus. The Volunteer Fair gives our students the opportunity to talk to representatives from non-profit organizations about civic engagement and gaining valuable job experience in a field they are interested in. This is not only beneficial for the students, but it is also beneficial for the community.

At the Volunteer Fair, representatives had the opportunity to discuss their mission, goals, and how volunteers can help with their organizations. These organizations included the following:

1. The Salvation Army
2. Action Ministries
3. Hope House
4. Ronald McDonald House
5. Safe Homes of Augusta
6. Lydia Project
7. Rape Crisis and Sexual Assault Services
8. Savannah River Keeper
9. Alzheimer’s Association
10. Gentiva Hospice
11. Friends of Augusta Animal Services
12. Golden Harvest Food Bank
13. Affinis Hospice of Augusta
14. St. Joseph’s Hospice Care

(Students expressed their volunteer interests.)

With a wide range of volunteer opportunities available, students are easily able to find an organization to become involved with. Those who selflessly dedicate at least 100 hours of community service receive the Distinguished Order of the Servant Leader award, which includes a certificate signed by Georgia Military College President, Lt. Gen. William B. Caldwell, IV; a distinctive GMC medal, and it is also denoted on the student’s transcript.
