Georgia Military College Orienteering Club to Compete in Georgia Navigator Cup

Georgia Military College’s newly established Orienteering Club is set to compete in the highly anticipated Georgia Navigator Cup, taking place January 18-19 at Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs, Georgia. This two-day, classic competition will test the orienteering skills, teamwork, time management, physical endurance, communication, and strategic thinking of college and university teams from across the Southeast, including participants from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

GMC’s Orienteering Club Team, composed of four dedicated members of the Corps of Cadets, has been honing their skills through weekly practice events since October. Orienteering is a sport that requires participants to use a topographical map and compass to navigate diverse, often unfamiliar, terrain while racing to designated control points. The team must work collaboratively to locate these points, all while adhering to competition rules and completing the course as efficiently as possible.

The Georgia Navigator Cup is recognized as a National Ranking Event by Orienteering USA, attracting top-tier competitors from across the nation.
