Georgia Military College hosts JROTC Best Raider Competition
Georgia Military College hosted a JROTC Best Raider Competition on Saturday, March 12, 2016.
Forty-eight Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) teams from across Georgia and Florida competed for awards in five events: 5K buddy run, raider gauntlet (water can relay, low crawl, tire flip, canoe carry and sand bag relay), cross country rescue, obstacle course, and rope bridge. Teams consisted of two-person buddy teams in three categories: male, female and mixed.
The Georgia Military College Prep School Raider buddy teams placed first overall in every category. Brigadier General Thomas Carden Jr., Assistant Adjutant General – Army, Georgia Dept. of Defense and Commander of the Georgia Army National Guard presented the awards to the students.
Female Overall
1st place: Caitlin Settle/Macie Newell, Georgia Military College Prep
2nd place: Samantha Ethridge/Megan Reis, Grayson High School
3rd place: Hannah McTyre/Anna Caldwell, Georgia Military College Prep
Male Overall
1st place-tie: Will Caldwell/Tyler Johnson, Georgia Military College Prep
1st place-tie: Brandon Sanchez/Colin Rottes, Manatee High School
3rd place: Carlos Carrillo/Jorge Quesada, Riverside Military Academy
Mixed Overall
1st place: Emma Mercer/Patrick Lewis, Georgia Military College Prep
2nd place: Brooklynn Siens/Woody Perry, Dawson High School
3rd place: Dever Johnson/Jacob Densmore, Creekview High School
The GMC Prep Raiders hold the title of 2015 National Champions (Mixed Division); 2014 National Runner-Up, and 2014 State Champions.
