Georgia Military College Bulldogs Celebrate Historic 2024 Football Season
Georgia Military College (GMC) Bulldogs are celebrating an extraordinary 2024 football season, marked by a 10-2 record, a nationally televised game on historic Davenport Field via ESPN+, and their first shot at the NJCAA Championship since 2013. This remarkable achievement reflects the team’s dedication, resilience, and teamwork.
Head Coach Robert Manchester attributes the Bulldogs’ success to a holistic approach that balances physical preparation, spiritual growth, and a culture of academics and accountability.
“From a physical standpoint, the foundation Ches Cullins has built in the weight room is phenomenal,” said Coach Manchester. “Spiritually, the FCA program has grounded our players, creating a sense of purpose and unity that extends beyond the field.”
These efforts have helped propel the Bulldogs through key moments of the season, including a thrilling overtime victory against Snow College and a hard-fought game against top-ranked Iowa Western, showcasing the team’s ability to compete with the nation’s best. Heading into the NJCAA Semi-Finals last Sunday, The GMC Bulldogs were ranked #2 nationally. They lost to the Hutchinson College Blue Dragons on Sunday, a team that has competed for the National Championship title three times over the last five years.
Offensive Coordinator Spencer Leland Ready III, in his second season, emphasized the transformation of individual players into a cohesive unit, that has led to such a winning season. “It’s really difficult to get first-year and second-year players to gel, but this team has done that beautifully,” said Ready. “They’ve worked hard, and now they’re seeing the fruits of their labor in this incredible postseason run.”
Ready highlighted standout performances by quarterback #3 Chip Cooper and a talented trio of running backs—#6 Treyquan Jones, #8 Keenan Phillips, and #11 Javon Kinchen. The offensive line’s strong showing has been crucial, helping the Bulldogs lead the nation in scoring.
First-year Defensive Coordinator Thad Turner has also brought fresh energy to the Bulldogs, leveraging the abundance of Georgia’s high school football talent. “Georgia has an abundance of high school talent, and it’s been amazing to work with such skilled players,” said Turner.
Turner praised defensive standouts like #8 Jorian Haynes, #90 Aiden Benton, and #41 Walker Hicks, noting their contributions to the team’s success. He also underscored the life lessons football imparts, including accountability, teamwork, and resilience.
