Fourteen Georgia Military College Students Protecting Our Freedom During the Holidays
(Milledgeville, GA) December 3, 2003 – A little more than two years ago the country watched in horror as airplanes became war weapons, and thousands of Americans lost their lives in an instant. Seemingly, the entire country rallied behind the flag, shouting, “Never Again!” and there was no denying that the United States was at war. Images of September 11th stir in us emotions of terror unmatched by our worst nightmares, yet most of us cannot comprehend what our troops (many of them teenagers) must be experiencing as they continue to be in harm’s way in the quest for peace.
Georgia Military College asks that you consider writing a brief note to one of the fourteen GMC cadets deployed to Iraq. These students have temporarily stepped away from their college education to protect our freedom. Tell them that their sacrifices are meaningful and are valued. Tell them that you are grateful for their paying our costs for our freedom. Tell them that they are loved, that they are embraced as heroes, and that their homecoming is eagerly awaited. Tell them how much you appreciate living in this “land of the free and home of the brave” that they have preserved for us.
The addresses below represent the cadets’ home units, and all mail will be forwarded to their current locations. Perhaps we can all help make their holiday period away from home a little better with our support.
