BIG, the Musical

GMC prep school presents, “BIG, the Musical,” Friday, May 5, 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, May 6, 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., in the Goldstein Center for the Performing Arts.

The 1987 hit movie that starred Tom Hanks, bursts onstage in this vibrant, funny and touching musical. When frustrated adolescent, Josh Baskin wishes he were “big” and wakes up the next morning as a 30 year-old man, he discovers there’s much more to being an adult than he’s bargained for, and he learns that we must all grow up at our own pace, in our own time.

MAJ Charlotte Bearden, GMC Prep School Fine Arts Director, said, “Fresh, up-to-date, relevant and featuring one of the most irresistible leading male roles ever, ‘BIG, the Musical’ holds universal appeal for audiences of all ages. Our incredibly talented GMC high school and middle school students have prepared a great show. Cameron Kennedy, a senior who played Cogsworth, the Clock, in last year’s production of Beauty and the Beast, gives a dazzling performance as “Big Josh.” Cameron is bound for college next year as a theatre major at Montclair University in New Jersey.” MAJ Bearden encourages the community to not miss this performance so that later when Cameron is on the big screen everyone can say, “I saw him at GMC.”

Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and can be purchased at the door, or in advance by calling 478-445-2724.
