Alex Myers Receives Presidential Scholarship

Mr. Garrett Alexander Myers, of Fayetteville, Georgia, has been selected by the Georgia Military College Scholarship Committee to receive the 2005 Presidential Endowed Scholarship. This award is made each year to a deserving junior college student to assist with the expenses incurred for tuition, books, or uniforms for the entire two years of study at Georgia Military College.

A 2004 graduate of Sandy Creek High School, Mr. Myers is a member of the GMC junior college football team where he plays wide receiver. Mr. Myers considers this one of his greatest accomplishments as he joined the team in August after spending the entire summer in physical therapy following an automobile accident in May 2004, from which he suffered a traumatic brain injury. Mr. Myers is on the Dean’s List for the fall quarter for achieving a 3.41 grade point average. He also serves the community as a member of the GMC Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity. The son of Bonnie and Sid Myers of Fayetteville, Alex Myers plans to pursue admittance to Harvard University to study biomedical engineering.
