Secretary of the Army visits Georgia Military College

Wednesday, the top appointed official for the U.S. Army visited Middle Georgia.
He stopped at the Georgia Military College in Baldwin County to talk to students about joining the army after graduation. The Secretary also praised the cadets for all of their hard work.
Secretary Geren tells Today’s MGT News, “High school students around the country that go through JROTC come out as better students, as better citizens, and regardless of whether or not they pursue a military career or service in the army, it’s a great program that prepares young people to succeed in life. This is one of the best in the country.”
Secretary Geren is a civilian, and reports to Dr. Robert Gates, the U.S. Secretary of Defense. He was appointed to his current role by President Bush, and has served as Secretary of the Army since March 2007.
