Message from the President

I am honored and excited to serve as the 22nd President of Georgia Military College.

From the moment I was introduced to GMC, I was drawn to its powerful mission—developing educated citizens and authentic servant leaders in a values-based environment. Now, as I step into this role, I do so with tremendous respect for the legacy of those who came before me and with deep enthusiasm for the journey ahead.

GMC has always been a place where hope is nurtured and opportunity is within reach. These values are what make this college so special. Since 1879, students have walked through our doors with the courage to dream, and GMC has provided the tools, support, and mentorship to turn those dreams into reality. Today, more than 11,000 students are pursuing the promise of hope and opportunity across our statewide in-seat footprint, and worldwide through GMC Online.

What excites me most about joining this extraordinary institution is being part of a mission that changes lives. Here, education is not just about academic achievement; it’s about character, leadership, and service. It’s about meeting students where they are and helping them discover how GMC can help create pathways for their future opportunities.

I’ve already seen firsthand the passion of our faculty and staff—professionals who pour their energy into making sure every student feels seen, supported, and challenged. Our students inspire me daily. They come from diverse backgrounds; each with unique goals and united by a determination to build a better future. At GMC, they’re not alone in that pursuit—we are all in it together.

We believe in second chances, fresh starts, and the incredible power of perseverance. It is for these reasons we welcome every student with a high school diploma or GED, provide small class sizes, free tutoring, and personalized support services. And that’s why we hold firm to the values of duty, honor, and country—because we’re not just educating minds; we’re shaping futures.

As I begin this new chapter alongside all of you, I’m filled with gratitude—and with hope in the potential of every student and hope in the strength of our GMC family.

The opportunity ahead is great. Let’s achieve great accomplishments together.

With pride and purpose,
Major General Terrence J. McKenrick, U.S. Army (Retired)
President, Georgia Military College
