Megan Leben named GMC Prep School 2017 Valedictorian

Megan Leben is GMC Prep School’s Class of 2017 Valedictorian.

18-year-old Megan Leben is GMC Prep School’s Class of 2017 Valedictorian. Leben will graduate from GMC’s Prep School on May 26 with a 4.0 GPA. She says having the title of Valedictorian means a lot to her.

“It means a lot to me,” said Megan Leben. “My family has always valued education so I feel like I’m doing all of them proud. My grandpa was a math professor at Georgia Southern University, so he’s always taught me to work hard and my mom is an administrator at GMC’s Prep School and she’s always really pushed me to do my best.”

Leben began at GMC’s Prep School in the 6th grade and she’s worked her way up to the top leadership position as the school’s Battalion Commander during her senior year. She’s participated in Advance Placement (AP), honors, and dual enrollment classes throughout her high school career. Leben keeps herself busy as a member of the 3-time State Champion One Act, Literary Team, soccer team, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, Honor Council, various Honor Societies, and as the yearbook editor.

“It was important to me to have good grades, but I also had to find that careful balance between spending time with my friends, doing extracurricular activities, and spending time studying,” said Leben. “It was definitely time management.”

Leben plans on attending Georgia Southern University in the fall to study Public Relations and Sports Management. Her goal is to one day work for NASCAR. She says during her commencement speech she plans to encourage her peers to do their best.
