Happy Birthday, GMC!

On this date in 1879, the Local Board of Trustees of Middle Georgia Military and Agricultural College met for the first time and began the process of organizing a school which we now know as Georgia Military College. According to the Union Recorder of 21 October 1879, the men named Trustees were, J.A. Green, D.B. Sanford, A. Joseph, S. E. Whitaker, R. C. Humber, J.N. Moore, L. Carrington, F. C. Furman, C. P. Crawford, and Samuel Walker. Below is a clip from the Union Recorder, page 3, 28 October 1879. Note that “Wednesday last” would have been 22 October.
