GMC’s Rifle Team: Cadet Emily Stefurak, Cadet Tristian Swann, Ray Parker, and Cadet Jefferey Glass.

GMC’s rifle team is hoping to come back with a win, as they prepare to compete at their national competition. The team will compete in the 2017 National Rifle Association’s (NRA) Intercollegiate Rifle Championship in Fort Benning, Georgia on March 18-19. Five of GMC’s students will compete in the .22 caliber rifles and air rifles competition. They will compete against teams from Purdue, The University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Penn State, Clemson University, North Dakota State University, and Oregon State University. GMC’s Chief Instructor Range Coordinator, Mary Ellen Eaton, says she’s proud of the hard work her team has put in since August.

“We qualified for nationals in February at the Citadel and for the first time in our history everyone qualified,” said Eaton. “I am really excited because if they shoot really well, they could have the opportunity to shoot for marksmanship teams at other 4-year colleges and universities, in the Olympics, internationally, and in the military.”
