GMC Prep School Wins Regional Literary Competition for 9th Year in a Row

Georgia Military College Prep School Wins Regional Literary Competition for Ninth Consecutive Year

Georgia Military College Prep School Prep claimed first prize in the Area 5 Single-A Public division of the Regional Literary Competition over the weekend. GMC Prep School hosted the event at Northridge Christian Church, and the weekend’s competition marked GMC Prep’s ninth consecutive year winning the regional title.

“We are incredibly proud of the students and their hard work that led to this success,” said Mark Weaver, Director of Fine Arts at GMC Prep School. “They are leaving a fantastic legacy for future teams by carrying on the tradition.”

GMC Prep School students qualified and competed in all areas of the competition: Oral Presentation in Dramatic, Humorous, and Duo, Extemporaneous Speaking: Domestic and International, Essays in Rhetorical, Argumentative, and Personal, and Music: Boys Solo, Girls Solo, Girls Trio, and Boys Quartet.

Weaver says his region-winning students’ work isn’t over. Next up is the State Literary Competition.

“We are working through the judges’ critics and feedback and continuing to improve and polish,” Weaver said. “There will be many strong teams at the state event. Every competition is different. Our work always focuses on three things for our students: work hard, have fun, and be yourself.”

More than 50 high schools and hundreds of students from across the state of Georgia will come to GMC Prep School on March 14, 2020, as GMC Prep School hosts State Literary Competition for the fourth consecutive year.
