GMC Madison Announces Scholarship Fund

The Georgia Military College Madison Campus announced the endowment of a scholarship fund on Thursday, September 24, 2015.  A committee lead by Mr. Mike Torino, GMC Adjunct Professor, celebrated raising more than $76,000 in about 90 days with a reception to honor the many donors to the scholarship fund.

Mr. Torino said many of the donors were especially impressed by GMC’s mission.  “GMC Madison is the perfect place to start pursuing a higher education for anyone who doesn’t want to be overburdened financially by college,” Mike said.  “Every one of the scholarship donations will stay right here, to be awarded to Morgan County residents.”

Ms. Leigh Aldhizer, Director of the GMC Madison campus, says the school plans to award its first scholarships in the spring of 2016.  “I don’t like seeing anyone saddled with debt coming out of college.  We want to help as many people as possible bridge the gap between government-funded aid and the actual cost of their education.  Thanks to the generosity of our community, these funds will go a long way toward that goal!”
