On Thursday, November 10, Cadets Frankend Ababio and Michelle Manning participated in a commissioning ceremony signifying a tremendous step in their military career. The ceremony marked their transition from Cadets to Army Officers as they are now commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants. They took an oath as a solemn promise to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

“This moment means so much because I come from a military family and I’m just very, very proud of this moment,” said Michelle Manning, 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. “Georgia Military College has definitely been pivotal in grooming me to become an officer in the Army and I can’t wait to see what the future has for me.”

“It’s been a long time coming,” said Frankend Ababio, 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. “God has been good to me. All of the success I’ve had goes to God. The best way to leadership is taking care of your people and putting them first.”

Upon graduating from GMC with their associates’ degrees, they will continue to service with the Georgia National Guard as they pursue the next level of their education. 30-year-old Michelle Manning is a native of Alexandria, Virginia and will attend Georgia State University in January 2017 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. 22-year-old Frankend Ababio was born in Palermo, Italy and currently resides in Acworth, Georgia. He will attend the University of Georgia in January 2017 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.
