Georgia Military College signs articulation agreement with Middle Georgia State College
On February 10, 2015 Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell IV, President of Georgia Military College (GMC), and Dr. Christopher Blake, President of Middle Georgia State College, signed an Articulation Agreement that will allow GMC students to apply their Associate Degree credits toward Middle Georgia State baccalaureate degrees. GMC students will be able to transfer degree credits without losing credit hours, providing a more seamless transition to Middle Georgia State. Additionally, any GMC student who graduates from Georgia Military College with an Associate Degree is guaranteed admission into Middle Georgia State College provided that the student has a GPA of 2.0 out of a 4.0 scale for all college course work.
Dr. Christopher Blake said of the agreement, "We are pleased to offer this opportunity to Georgia Military College graduates to smoothly transition to Middle Georgia State to complete bachelor's degrees. This is the latest in a number of similar partnerships we have with other institutions, showing our commitment to eliminating obstacles to baccalaureate education for the people we serve."
LtGen William B. Caldwell, IV shared Dr. Blake’s sentiment, saying, “We are excited to have this opportunity with Middle Georgia State College, which has an incredible reputation in the State of Georgia, and is well known for its academics and focus on students. The fact that our students now have this unique ability to take all of their courses from GMC and directly transfer them over to Middle Georgia State College is a real win for our students.”
GMC is a liberal arts-based, two-year college. Although 250 ROTC cadets attend the Milledgeville Campus, the vast majority of GMC’s students are typical community college students. GMC has nine (soon to be 11) campuses throughout the state and serves about 12,000 students annually, many of whom go on to pursue baccalaureate degrees at four-year colleges and universities. LtGen Caldwell noted that, “GMC now holds articulation agreements with 38 colleges and universities in Georgia, and will continue to pursue agreements with four-year colleges and universities in order to support Governor Nathan Deal’s Complete College Georgia initiative, as well as to support Georgia Military College graduates who desire to pursue baccalaureate degrees.”
