Georgia Military College Library Staff Recognize Soldiers Fighting The War On Terror

Georgia Military College Library Director, LTC Jane Simpson, and her staff have organized a very special way to recognize soldiers who are fighting the War on Terror. A large board, decorated with red, white and blue, contains the names of GMC alumnus, current students, and staff, who are currently deployed inside or outside the Continental United States in direct support of America’s war against terrorism. One of these soldiers is Specialist 4th Class Jamaal Hicks. Hicks was enrolled in GMC Junior College on September 11, 2001, however within one week he was called into active duty, and is currently in Afghanistan serving as a chemical/radiation specialist with the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division 310 Chemical Company. Pictured are his father, Samuel Hicks, of Mableton, and brother, Richard Hicks, an employee of GMC’s information technology department, placing Jamaal’s name on the board.
