Decreased Award Amounts for Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant

Announcement Regarding Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant
Decreased Award Amounts for the 2009-2010 Academic Year

The GTEG Program is funded solely by state appropriations, and accordingly, the annual award amount for the program is based on the appropriated amount and the estimated number of students who will apply for the program. Each year, Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) notifies us of the annual award amount as soon as possible after the budget is passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by the Governor.

Based on the state appropriations recommended in the Fiscal Year 2010 Budget Act, initial estimates indicated that the appropriated funds would allow a 2009-2010 annual award amount of $950. Unfortunately, due to an increasing student demand for the program, and the continuing uncertainty of economic conditions, GSFC has announced that adjustments will be made to future award amounts.

The estimated GTEG award is $150 per term for winter and spring terms, 2010. This is an estimate only, and may change, before the beginning of the winter term. Be assured, that if further revisions to future award amounts are required, you will be notified as soon as possible.

If you have questions concerning this decreased award, please see the financial aid office at the campus you’re attending, or email financial aid at fa_help@gmc.cc.ga.us.
