Analese Bridges Earns First Place in Oratorical Contest

On Saturday, February 15, 2014, The Sixth District Department of Georgia American Legion held their 42nd Annual High School Oratorical Contest in Milledgeville. Contestants were allowed to speak on their prepared oration for eight to ten minutes on The Constitution of the United States. In addition, they were given three to five minutes to speak on one of four assigned topics. Analese Bridges, daughter of Barbara Bundrage of Milledgeville, won 1st Place. She is a junior at GMC Prep School and was sponsored by Warren-Hawkins Post 523 American Legion in Milledgeville. Analese was presented The Gold Oratorical Medal and a check for $225.00. As the Sixth District first place winner, Analese Bridges will advance to the Area I Competition which will be held at Laurens County Post 17, Dublin, GA, on February 22, 2014. She will compete with first place winners from the First District and Eighth District of Georgia. The winning speaker of the Area I contest will advance to the Department of Georgia competition on February 25, in Perry, Georgia, in competition with the other three areas of Georgia. The Department of Georgia winner competes in the National competition in Indianapolis, Indiana in April, 2014.
