Graduation Day!

Congratulations!  Celebrations are in order!
Here are a few important facts about your upcoming 2021 Graduation Ceremony:

Costs:  There are NO fees assessed to participate.  You have only to secure your cap and gown (tassel, etc.), see below.

Date and time of commencement: 22 May 2021
Students arrive by 7:45 AM
Class picture at 8:00 AM
Ceremony begins at 9:00 AM

Location of the rehearsal and ceremony:
Evans Towne Center Park
7016 Evans Towne Center Boulevard
Evans, GA 30809

Length of the ceremony:  The actual ceremony should take approximately 70 minutes.

Step 1: Applying for your degree:  You must apply for your degree no later than 1 April.  Remember, you must pass the classes you need to graduate to be eligible for participation. When confirming graduation attendance, please identify if you are a military veteran or a Legacy graduate (you have other immediate family who are graduates from GMC). Apply here and send to csimpkins@gmc.edu

Step 2: Cap and gown: Order cap, gown, tassel and stole here.  A packet with recognition cords will be provided at graduation for those who meet qualifications.

Your Diploma: You do not receive your diploma at graduation.  You should receive your actual diploma approx. 4-6 weeks after you have completed all degree requirements. If you already have your diploma, please leave it at home.

Graduation announcements: Will be available to you at NO cost in the bookstore at a date to be determined.

Pictures: There will be a photographer to take a graduating class photo as well as individual photos.
Individual photos will be taken on campus at 115 Davis Road on 22-25 March and 12-14 April 2021.
The class photo will be taken the morning of graduation and we plan to have pictures and a live stream of the ceremony available.

Campus Store and Memorabilia:  The Campus Store will set up a table at graduation so graduates and family members can purchase GMC and related alumni items and flowers. Please plan ahead to bring cash or credit cards to save time in line.

3 x 5 cards: When you arrive at the ceremony, you will receive a 3 x 5 card with your name, degree and honors listed. You will hand it to the academic dean, who will announce your name just prior to walking across the stage.

It looks to be a large group this year!  We are truly excited for the 2021 graduating class.  Should you have any further questions, please contact Mr. Garrison, Academic Dean’s Office (706) 955-0486.
