Sandersville Campus

2022 Schedule

SANDERSVILLE, GA—Georgia Military College Sandersville campus has recently opened a free food resource lovingly dubbed the “Free Little Pantry.” Extension Center Director Lonzo Smith launched the pantry as a service project earlier this summer, and it was opened late July. The food pantry is located on site between the front lobby and the student lounge. The service project was conceived to augment the learning potential of our students. Educators have long understood that food enhances focus by eliminating the hunger distraction and providing the caloric energy needed to learn.

Thus, students are encouraged to stop by before or after class to refuel.

The pantry includes a variety of items: everything from wholesome soups, mashed potatoes, protein bars, apple chips, peanut butter, honey, and stroganoff to the old college classics Ramen, macaroni and cheese, and cereal. Conveniently, the student lounge also provides a comfortable place to enjoy a meal, along with a microwave, refrigerator, and water-bottle fill station.

Even though the pantry supplies only food items right now, in the future we plan for it to expand to include such necessities as hygienic items, school supplies, and perhaps even job-interview clothing donations.

But why a Free Pantry at GMC Sandersville? Well, hopefully it will bring a little joy to our students. The food pantry is a permanent, year-round fixture that they can count on to be there when there is no time to run out for a meal, or when they want to practice gratitude by having something to donate towards. The vision for the pantry is that students will take and give as they need or see fit, at their discretion, and through that practice, our community will flourish and stay nourished.

For those unfamiliar with GMC, we are an accredited liberal arts college with a dozen campuses spread throughout Georgia. While our campus in Milledgeville proudly serves residential cadets and athletes, all our other campuses are community colleges, meaning our students are not required to be military affiliated and our focus is on how we can help our communities by providing Higher Education as a resource. Our community colleges are diverse in terms of the populations we serve, and we are proud of that fact. Our primary focus is providing Associates Degrees to those who want to then transfer out to one of the many college and university institutions with which we have articulation agreements, but we also do provide pathways for those seeking a Bachelors Degree from a college in their hometown.

We are proud to be a community institution of Washington County, and we look forward to more years serving our community as a Higher Education resource.

Georgia Military College’s Sandersville campus is an extension of the Augusta campus offering students from surrounding areas the opportunity to attend college, complete Core Curriculum, and earn a 2-year Associate Degree closer to home!

The GMC Sandersville campus also offers a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program in Business Management, Supervision and Management, Supply Chain Management and Logistics, or Healthcare Management. A Bachelor of Applied Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management is scheduled to be implemented in Winter 2021. Our BAS degree programs are designed to prepare students for career advancement opportunities and supervisory and management roles in their technical or occupational field.

The GMC Sandersville campus accommodates busy schedules by offering a wide variety of flexible class scheduling options delivering a quality education at an affordable price. Students can choose to take day, night, weekend, or fully online classes. Georgia Military College Sandersville students that take fully online classes, still have access to our many useful campus resources, including free tutoring! Spring, Fall 1, Fall, and Winter terms are offered on an eight-week schedule, while Summer classes meet for seven weeks.

At GMC Sandersville, you are not just a student number in hundreds of students.
