GMC Prep School JROTC Earns 98% on Accreditation Inspection

Georgia Military College Prep School has earned 98 percent for their JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) accreditation. Every three years, the JROTC Program of Accreditation (JPA) visits high schools across the country to ensure schools are maintaining a commitment to student performance and continuous improvement in education.

The Army JROTC program is accredited by AdvancED, the parent organization of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CAS). JROTC earned its accredited status by adhering to AdvancED Standards for Quality.

“The cadets impressed me very much,” said Michael Fox, Senior Training and Education Specialist for the 6th Brigade JROTC Training Education. “They know what they’re talking about, they have great leadership, but most of all when the cadets come here, they are trained. They understand the leadership, how this program works, and how it’s ran, and you can tell that from talking to everyone from the younger students to the older students.”

This rating by the JPA means GMC Prep School maintains its Gold Star status, a goal the school works towards maintaining every three years.

“It’s really wonderful seeing all our hard work pay off,” said Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Anna Caldwell, Battalion Commander. “Our team has grown as friends, teammates, and leaders. We accomplished our goal of maintaining our Gold Star, meaning we’re in the top 10 percent of Cadet Command Status, and that’s quite an accomplishment.”

Each student says the most important lesson they’ve learned, is the lesson of teamwork.

“Teamwork is essential to the success of us all so to be able to show Mr. Fox what we’ve been working on and how we’ve improved as leaders and how we’ve grown is really exciting,” said Cadet Major Lyssa Blair.

GMC Prep School is so proud of our students for scoring so well on their inspection!
