GMC Prep Basketball Coach to Achieve 800 Wins

GMC Prep School Basketball Coach to Achieve 800 Wins

Last year was a big year for the Georgia Military College Prep School varsity basketball team. The Bulldogs completed the historic season with an overall record of 25-4, 16-2 in the Sub-Region where they finished 2nd, and were ultimately ranked 9th in the State. Within the next few weeks, the team will help their coach achieve a huge accomplishment with his 800th career win.

GMC Prep School Basketball Coach, James Lunsford, has had a long career in basketball, coaching at Baldwin County and Twiggs County High Schools before coming GMC Prep School in April of 2010. Now almost nine years later, he says hitting the 800 win mark is a dream come true.

“It means a great deal to win 800 games in my career,” Lunsford said. “But to be honest, what means the most is being able to work with hundreds of young men and women to be successful. I am a product of the Milledgeville community and to have spent my life here teaching and coaching is fulfilling. I believe young people can make a difference through hard work, honor and character. At GMC Prep we have changed the culture through the sport of basketball to make this institution a better place, and through that and with their help, I have my 800th win upon us. It’s a privilege.“

Coach Lunsford’s 800th win opportunity comes within the next few weeks. He has 795 career wins as of now and is looking forward to celebrating 800 in 2019!
