GMC ranks as one of nation's best online teaching programs for 2017

The Community for Accredited Online Schools ranks Georgia Military College as one of the top two-year schools in the nation with the best online teaching programs for 2017. As a leading resource provider for higher education information, The Community for Accredited Online Schools released a list of the best colleges and universities with online teaching programs. Out of 50 two-year colleges on the list, GMC ranks #20 in the nation. GMC is also the only college in Georgia to appear on the two-year college list.

“I am truly excited about the recognition of our online programs,” said Jody Yearwood, GMC’s Vice President of Information Technology & Online Campus. “President William B. Caldwell, IV, has stressed that his number one priority for our institution is to contribute to student success, and our online learning campus takes that mission very seriously.  Leveraging online learning allows our students the flexibility to receive a quality education around their schedules.  By creating these creative educational pathways to a degree, GMC is able to fulfill its core promise of offering opportunity to any person that wants to pursue their degree. I am grateful to work with such a talented faculty and administration, and I am excited about the future for our students.”

To earn a spot on the “Best Online Teaching Programs” list, colleges and universities must be accredited, public, or private not-for-profit institutions. Each college is also selected based on the criteria of student resources, student/teacher ratios, availability of academic counseling, graduation rates, and financial aid offerings.

“This is definitely great news for GMC’s online learning campus,” said Jeffery Wells, GMC’s Academic Dean of Online Learning. “We strive to recruit faculty whose first priority is student success. We have a wonderful group of department chairs who help lead this campus. We are proud of them, as well as the hard work that the office of Online Education Development does in working with us to build our online curriculum.  This truly is a collaborative effort and one that requires time, dedication, and a passion for teaching and learning. Much thanks goes to not only our faculty and staff, but also to President Caldwell and Dr. Mike Holmes, GMC’s Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty, for the tremendous support that we receive from them to further our mission and offer this opportunity to students around the globe.”

GMC offers 18 fully online Associate Degree programs and 2 fully online Bachelor of Applied Science Degree programs to provide students the affordability and flexibility to receive their education from anywhere in the world. To learn more about GMC’s online programs visit www.gmc.edu.
