Senate Majority Leader speaks at GMC's Constitution Parade

On Friday, September 23, Georgia State Senator Bill Cowsert (R-46) was the guest speaker at Georgia Military College’s (GMC) Constitution Parade. The parade celebrates the signing of the U.S. Constitution which was drafted by delegates to the Constitutional Convention during the summer of 1787. The Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787, and established the government of the United States. The parade was led by more than 800-cadets at GMC’s Prep School and Corps of Cadets program. Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, President of Georgia Military College, and Senator Cowsert recognized students for their community service and academic excellence. The cadets presented Senator Cowsert with a military saber.

Senator Bill Cowsert was elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2006 and was elected as the Senate Majority Leader in 2014. He represents the citizens of Clarke, Oconee and Walton counties. Cowsert graduated from Macon Central High School, earned a B.S. in business administration from Presbyterian College, and a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. Senator Cowsert is a founding partner of the Athens’ based law firm Cowsert & Avery.
