GMC to host 2nd annual Bulldog Invitational Raider Challenge
Georgia Military College (GMC) will host its 2nd annual Bulldog Invitational Raider Challenge on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. located on Oconee River Greenway at 201 E. Greene Street Milledgeville, Georgia. This is an invitational meet for Middle and South Georgia Raider teams. 21-teams from 10-schools are participating in GMC’s Raider Challenge. The competition is free and open to the public.
A Raider competition or “Raiders” as it is more commonly known is a very popular athletic competition held within high school JROTC programs around the United States. It is the Army JROTC equivalent of the Army ROTC “Ranger Challenge” competition in college. The events are held outdoors and designed for a small group of physically fit and mentally tough cadets to compete in various outdoor activities. The competition focuses on leadership, physical fitness, mental focus, and emotional wellness. Raider competitions normally have 5 events consisting of personal fitness, distance team running event, obstacle course event, rescue/first aid event, and rope bridge construction/transport component event.
