GMC JC Athletics holds ‘Trade UP’ Day
On Monday and Thursday of this week, the Georgia Military College Athletic Department sponsored a ‘Trade UP’ day for its College and Prep School students and faculty. The idea was to give away 400 GMC Bulldog logoed T-shirts for FREE if they donated a clothing item or items. They ‘traded up’ by giving away.
“We are working hard to get our Bulldog Fans in our ‘branded’ apparel for when they attend all athletic events of GMC”, stated Sean Gillespie, Assistant Athletic Director. On Saturday it is also Community Appreciation Day for the GMC JC Football game, where GMC Athletics will be recognizing various organizations in the community that are making an impact in the lives of people in the Greater Baldwin County area. “One of our organizations that we are recognizing is the Salvation Army and so it made sense for us to then collect the clothing articles that our fans donated, give a Free T-shirt to them and then in turn take the donated clothing items and give it to the Salvation Army to help them meet their needs in the community. What was exciting to see was that many people brought large bags of items to give away”, Gillespie commented.
The two Trade UP day’s turned out to be quite successful as GMC Athletics gave away 400 T-shirts and in return received over 1500 articles of clothing to present to the Salvation Army on Saturday at halftime of the football game.
“It is a win-win for all involved. We get GMC Bulldog apparel on our fans, and more importantly we get to help out a great organization that is impacting a lot of people in our community. We would like to thank all those that contributed, as well as Sean Isley with Apparel INC., as they helped with sponsoring of the shirt”, stated Bert Williams, GMC JC Athletic Director.
Mrs. Lisa Bell, Director of the area Salvation Army will be attending and will be presented with the donated items this Saturday, October 3rd at halftime of the football game.
GMC will be kicking off against NJCAA #10 ranked Nassau C.C. (NY) at 3pm at Davenport Field. Come out and support the Bulldogs and help us thank those in our community that are making an impact.
