GMC Prep Rifle Team qualifies for 2015 Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Regional Championship

Congratulations to the GMC Prep School Rifle Team which qualified for the 2015 Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Regional Championship, a first in GMC history.  This event will take place on April 9-11 in Anniston, Ala.

Competitors are invited based on their performances in the CMP State Championships and CMP Postal Competition.  In 2014, over 8,025 cadets participated in the JROTC Postal Match.  GMC Prep Rifle Team competed in the National Postal Competition and shot a team aggregate score of 1095, which qualified GMC Prep in the South East Region.  There will be 640 regional participants competing in this prestigious regional competition, which will consist of 55 teams and 45 individual qualifiers.

Three Regional Championships will take place, in Camp Perry, Ohio; Anniston, Ala.; and Sandy, Utah.  All locations will feature Megalink electronic targets and LCD screens for the spectators.  Teams and individuals are selected by regions based on their state.  Competitors will fire in two 3x20 competitions, with a final round for the top eight individuals in both sporter and precision category.  Awards will be given at each regional championship based on that location’s results only.  Results from all three regional championships will be combined to determine which teams and individuals advance to the National Championship in June, 2015.
