Georgia Military College Awarded 2015 Military Friendly Schools ® Designation

Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has named all six Georgia Military College campuses – Milledgeville, Augusta, Columbus, Fairburn, Warner Robins and Valdosta – to the coveted Military Friendly Schools® list. The 2015 Military Friendly Schools® list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military students, and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation.

A Homeland Security and Emergency Management major, Staff Sergeant Abraham Quintanilla of Columbus, Ga., considers Georgia Military College to be very military-friendly because it provides “a community-orientated environment.” Quintanilla’s transition from the military to being a student was made easier because “the faculty members at GMC are very outgoing and student-focused.” He added, “There are a lot of people who know what is going on and can point you in the right direction.”

The list of Military Friendly Schools® was compiled through extensive research and a free, data-driven, survey of more than 10,000 VA-approved schools nationwide. The criteria used to determine each school’s eligibility include the amount of support given on campus to military students, veteran graduation rates, tuition assistance, and other factors.

A full story and detailed list of 2015 Military Friendly Schools® will be highlighted in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools ®, distributed in print and digital format to hundreds of thousands of active and former military personnel in early October.
