Columbus Honors New Members of Phi Theta Kappa
Georgia Military College Columbus Honors New Members of Phi Theta Kappa The Beta Sigma Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, located at GMC Columbus, recently inducted new members. Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is an exclusive honor, limited only to students with a GPA of at least 3.5. The society exists, “to encourage scholarship, facilitate service opportunities, and provide an intellectual community for its members,” said PTK Faculty Advisor and Humanities Department Chair Erica Stone. The most recent PTK induction was held at the end of last term at the Columbus Public Library and included the PTK ritual, a guest speaker, and a reception. GMC Columbus is happy to recognize the newest group of inductees. New PTK Members as of November 28, 2012: Matthew Nichols of Columbus, GA Brendan Prather of Columbus, GA Marcus Priester of Phenix City, AL Derrick Pope of Phenix City, AL Marcus Scrutchins of Columbus, GA Maigen Skelton of Waverly Hall, GA Rachel Webb of Columbus, GA Existing PTK Members: Sheila Hunter of Columbus, GA Kristie Long of Columbus, GA Marquette Pace of Ft. Benning, GA Shelby Robidoux of Columbus, GA James Spruill of Ft. Benning, GA Shannon Waller of Columbus, GA Wendy Waller of Columbus, GA Georgia Military College, the only public liberal arts junior college located in Columbus, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees. Some of the majors offered are business administration, criminal justice, education, homeland security, pre-nursing, and psychology. Enrollment for the Spring 2013 term is currently underway at our new campus.
