The day kicked off with greetings at Cordell Events Center where students and their family members were introduced to representatives from GMC offices of admissions, military science and academic support as part of the annual Super Wednesday event. Getting the cadets acclimated to campus life tops the list of primary goals for the annual Super Wednesday event, according to Brenda Brown of the Office of the Dean of Students. “We're here to show them what we have to offer,” said Brenda Brown, of the Office of the Dean of Students said as students milled around tables set up in the gym, collecting packets of information and materials along the way. Later in the day, the new GMC cadets and families traveled to Parham Hall, the New Academic Building, Baugh Barracks and other designated areas across campus as they made their way to the GMC Bookstore where they received their initial issue known as the “Ditty Bag.” After completing the in-processing steps, cadets were welcomed into the battalion and the plebe-period officially began. Classes begin Monday for all GMC students.
