JC rifle team breaks record by 33 points
The JUNIOR COLLEGE BULLDOG RIFLE TEAM BREAKS THEIR RECORD BY 33 POINTS The Citadel hostedThe Southeastern AirRifle Conference #2this past weekend, which was attended by GMC'sJunior College Rifle Team.Forty-eight shooters participated in the competition.TheSoutheastern Air Rifle Conferencerequires six targetsof 10 shots each, in the standing position. The combined scores of four shooters on each team determine the match outcome. North Carolina State Universitytook team honorswith a 2294, followed by The Citadel 2266, Clemson University2242, North Georgia College StateUniversity2233, Georgia Military College 2167 andWofford 2165. Georgia Military College's fourtop shooterswere represented byJaraCharleton 550 ( scores of 93,90,93,87,94,93), BrettLosey 547( 91-88-87-94-94-93), Arielle Vann 543 ( 91-91-96-87-88-90) and first time shooter Diana Duncan with a 527 (92-89-88-87-86-85). Other members of the GMC team were Robert McKenna, in his first year, with an outstanding 519;Michael Roberson509his personal best;Markeshia Burton 494; Larry Massey 485 and James Squires 465. While The Citadel was hosting SEARC #2 they also hosted The Citadel Invitational. Theshooters participated in air rifle and smallbore,combining both scores for the competition. Teams from Texas Christian University, Jacksonville State, Columbus State, North Carolina State University, The Citadel Men's Team, North Georgia College State University, The Citadel Women's Team andWofford competed Saturday and Sunday in air rifle and smallbore. Texas Christian University was the overall winner with a score of 4663. Sarah Scherer of TCU was thehigh shooter with scores of 582-596. Georgia Military College will host SEARC#3 October 29, 2011.
