Gransden, orchestra to hold concert Friday

Gransden, orchestra to hold concert Friday (Milledgeville) – Georgia Military College will play host to a musical treat Friday, when jazz artist Joe Gransden and his five-piece orchestra visit campus for a 7 p.m. concert on Grant Parade. Gransden, a New York native, was introduced to music early in life by his father, a pianist and singer. The trumpeter has since developed into a gifted musician with multiple CDs and an extensive tour schedule. “Music has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember,” states Gransden on his Web site. “Early on I developed a respect for individuals like my father whose lives revolved around music.” Since hitting the musical scene, Gransden has earned compliments from some of the best in the business. “Joe Gransden is one of those rare musicians that has it all,” said Kenny G on Grandsen’s Web site. “He is an incredible instrumentalist with the technique of a virtuoso. … Joe really does have it all.” Admission is $15 for Friday’s concert, sponsored by Allied Arts and GMC. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.
