Geoffrey Lingenfelter - CHARITY

Georgia Military College Prep School recognizes Geoffrey Lingenfelter for earning the Character of the Week Award in demonstrating the virtue of CHARITY. “I would like to nominate Geoffrey Lingenfelter for Character of the Week for his actions on Wednesday evening, April 22nd. While attending the Braves and Nationals game in Washington, DC, Geoffrey and his classmates had the opportunity to observe the Braves take batting practice before the game. Several cadets, including Geoffrey, made their way to the left field bleachers. It was there that Geoffrey caught a batting practice homerun. Standing with Geoffrey was a small boy, probably six or seven years old. To the surprise of the little boy and to Mr. Clinton Hardie, who was observing, Geoffrey turned and gave the ball to the little boy. The very next pitch was hit directly to Geoffrey, hitting him in the arm. He did not retrieve the ball. Geoffrey exhibited the quality of respect for others in giving up his once in a lifetime opportunity.” Submitted on April 27, 2009 by LTC K. Scott Seagraves, Ed.S. Grade 7 English
