Community Invited to Attend Events
Community Invited to Attend Events at GMC Featuring the 129th Corps of Cadets, Georgia Military College will host an Academic Honors Parade on Friday, April 18, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. on Grant Parade. The event will recognize students who have achieved academic distinction. The guest speaker will be Dr. Mike Holmes, Academic Dean and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Georgia Military College. The community is cordially invited to attend. This same day, MG Peter J. Boylan, President and the Board of Trustees of Georgia Military College will host the school’s seventh annual Military Tattoo, at 6:00 p.m., on Grant Parade. A Military Tattoo is an outdoor military exercise given by troops as evening entertainment, and is a program steeped with history and tradition. Georgia Military College’s seventh annual Military Tattoo will feature the John Mohr Mackintosh Pipes and Drums Band and a solo bagpiper, as well as presentations to the GMC Faculty Member of the Year, GMC Prep School Teacher of the Year, and GMC Character Educator of the Year. The deeply moving ceremony will conclude with the formal retirement of the Nation’s Colors by a fourteen-member flag detail to mark the end of the day. The community is cordially invited to observe this ceremony from the walkways left and right of the east steps of the Old Capitol. Suitable for all ages, the Military Tattoo will last about 40 minutes. Visitors and guests are asked to please arrive no later than 5:45 p.m.
