Health Services promotes the health and wellness of our campus community and provides routine first-aid to students, faculty, staff or visitors to the College.

The Campus Health Center is located on the first floor of Loyola Hall. It is open to all members of the Gwynedd community: part-time, full-time, graduate, and under-graduate students, staff and faculty. In case of a health emergency after hours, call the Office of Public Safety and Security at ext. 111.

Health Services is closed for the summer (May 15- August 1). If you have a medical emergency, please contact Public Safety and Security at ext. 111.

The hours are as follows (during the academic year):
Monday through Friday: 8:30am - 4:00pm


All members of the College community are asked to alert the director of health services of any personal health problem which would require immediate care in an emergency, e.g., heart disease, asthma, allergies, etc., so that the nurse can respond appropriately should the need arise.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The Health Services Office at Gwynedd-Mercy College also seeks to educate and promote heath awareness on campus in the following ways:

  • distributing information regarding a variety of health issues
  • hosting the Wellness Fair in collaboration with the Wellness Committee
  • holding regular blood pressure screenings
  • distributing annual flu shots and PPD (TB) testing
  • participating in national screening programs for eating disorders, depression and alcohol abuse
  • being available for consultation to all members of the college community, i.e., students, faculty, staff and administration.

Medical services are provided at on-campus events, such as FallFest, the Honors Convocation and Graduation.

Health Updates

MENINGITIS AWARENESS DISCLOSURE
On June 28, 2002, the Governor of Pennsylvania, Mark Schweiker, signed into law a requirement that students enrolled in Pennsylvania institutions of higher education residing in residence halls or other University owned housing be vaccinated against menigococcal disease. Students who wish to be exempt from this requirement must meet the following conditions: The student (or parent/legal guardian in the case of students under the age of 18 years), after having been advised of the risks of the disease and the availability and effectiveness of the vaccine, must sign a written waiver stating that he or she has reviewed the information and have chosen not to be vaccinated against the disease for religious or medical reasons.
