Professional Developtment Sessions

Sigma Phi Sigma
The National Mercy Honor Society is dedicated to the ideals of fidelity, scholarship and service. Members meet twice a semester, participate in one service and one academic event per semester, plan one Sigma Phi Sigma event per year, and work as ushers at various College events. Students must have a 3.2 GPA, demonstrate evidence of upholding the mission and values of the College, and have a clear commitment of service to the College and surrounding community. Applicants must supply two letters of recommendation and complete an application packet.
Applications for the 2008-2009 academic year are available now and are due by March 14, 2008. Students interested in joining may pick up an application at Mary Reilly's office, 118 Connelly Faculty Center.

Alpha Kappa Delta
The national honor society for sociology, this organization is dedicated to the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and other social and intellectual activities. Alpha Sigma Lambda
The national honor society for returning adult students recognizes and rewards the hard work, motivation, academic success, personal growth, and leadership qualities of its members.

Iota Kappa Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International
Iota Kappa Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau is an international honor society of nursing. The honor society recognizes and fosters in nurses superior achievement, the development of leadership qualities, high professional standards, creative work, and committment to the ideas of the nursing profession.

Kappa Delta Pi

Kappa Gamma Pi
The National Honor Society of Catholic Colleges, the organization identifies potential Catholic leaders who will maintain high personal standards of Christian excellence and scholarship.

Lambda Beta

Lambda Iota Tau
An international honor society in literature. Students must major or minor in literature and rank in the upper 35% of the class. Students who are interested in joining or want more information should contact Dr. Carol Breslin by email or at 215-646-7300, ext. 136.

Phi Alpha Theta
The International History Honor Society recognizes and encourages excellence in the study of history. Students must have earned a B or better in all history courses and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA to be eligible.

Sigma Theta Tau
The Iota Kappa Chapter of the National Honor Society of Nursing recognizes and fosters in nurses superior achievement, the development of leadership qualities, high professional standards, creative work, and commitment to the ideas of the nursing profession.

Sigma Zeta
The National Science and Mathematics Honor Society has two purposes. First, to encourage and foster the attainment of knowledge of the sciences, and second, to recognize the attainment of high scholarship among its members.
