Gwynedd-Mercy College Dance Team

The Dance Team is a group of 17 energetic students who prepare and perform dance routines at

GMC sporting events, particularly basketball games.  The four captains are also the coaches for

the team.   The captains create the dances, select the music, teach the dances, pick the

costumes, as well as handling all the administrative aspects for the team.  The members of the

Dance Team also participate in community service activities and assist with events/programs

sponsored by campus or other campus organizations. Additionally each year, the team

fundraises to purchase their uniforms and warm ups, some of their fundraisers include working

as security for the Philadelphia Eagles games and the Army vs. Navy game at Lincoln Financial

Field, as well as selling lottery calendars, cookie dough, tee shirts, and sweatshirts.   This year

they are raising money to go to their second National Competition in the spring.  Last year they

took first place at the National Dance Competition at the University of Maryland, in Baltimore, MD.
