Let Your Light Shine: Student-Led Retreat February 17-19

Students, are you ready to get away from campus and head to a beautiful retreat house in Sea Isle City where you can connect more deeply with yourself, other students, and maybe even GOD? Let Your Light Shine (LYLS) is a student-led retreat that features student talks, small group conversations, fun activities, quiet time and free time. Just what the doctor ordered for mid-February! The cost to you is just $40 per person and includes two nights lodging, transportation, and five meals.  (Assistance is available.) Click here to download an application. Deadline has been extended to Tuesday, 2/14. We're all in the same boat; let's head to the shore together!

Mardi Gras: February 21, 4-7 p.m. in the Waldron Cafe
On the eve of Lent, come celebrate with fun food and live jazz at dinner time in the dining hall. Those without a meal plan can pay cash ($9.80 + tax). But even if you do have a meal plan, bring a couple dollars because we are raffling off an assortment of cool prizes to benefit the work of the Sisters of Mercy in New Orleans! You can also purchase raffle tickets in St. Bernard's Lobby on Monday 2/20 and Tuesday 2/21 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. (Cosponsored by Human Services Association and Alternative Spring Break: New Orleans)

ASH WEDNESDAY: February 22
Our six-week journey through Lent begins next week! Ashes will be distributed at the following times:

  • 8:30 a.m. Mass in Chapel (Campbell Hall)
  • 11:30 a.m. Mass in Chapel (Campbell Hall)
  • 1:30 p.m. Common Hour Prayer Service in Chapel (Campbell Hall)
  • 8:30 p.m. Prayer Service in the Glass Lounge (St. Brigid Hall)

It's not too soon to start thinking about how YOU will observe Lent this year. How will you PRAY, FAST, and GIVE in a way that is meaningful for you and that helps you to "return to God with your whole heart" (Joel 2:12). Watch this space for some great ideas!

Alternative Break BINGO! Friday, March 23!
Mark your calendars NOW for this festive annual event to raise money for our Alternative Winter and Spring Break service trips. Doors (of our own gym) open at 6:00; play begins at 7:00 and features gift card prizes as well as food and an amazing basket raffle. Please come and bring your family and friends; it's a great night! To donate a prize or raffle basket, contact Christine at x590 or eberle.c@gmc.edu.

How have you changed in the last year? What change would you like to see in yourself this Lent? What can you do to help make that possible?
