News and Announcements - September 2008
Mercy Week Made an Impact
Mercy Week, celebrated annually at the College to recognize and strengthen its roots in the Mercy tradition, touched the lives of many students, faculty and staff during the week of September 22-28. The events were designed to bring the community together with a particular focus on raising social awareness and responsibility. This year, students were invited to discuss and learn about subjects such as anti-racism, non-violence, immigration, women, and care of the Earth.
The majority of topics that were presented during Mercy Week are aligned with the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, the founders of Gwynedd-Mercy College. While these concerns are still being addressed, the College also celebrated how the Sisters of Mercy have already made the world a better place. At the end of the week, the College community gathered to reflect on the events of Mercy Week while enjoying tea and baked goods. A newly added portion of Friday's tea, a service fair, allowed students, after absorbing everything they learned during the week, to see where they can volunteer to help those in need.
