News and Announcements - January 2008 GWYNEDD-MERCY COLLEGE OBSERVES MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. HOLIDAY WITH PRAYER BREAKFAST AND COMMUNITY SERVICE
Gwynedd Valley, Pa. (January 23, 2008) – In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Gwynedd-Mercy College hosted a prayer breakfast and several service projects on January 21 in the Waldron Center.
The prayer breakfast began with inspirational songs led by the Voices of Gwynedd choir and finished with a reflection on Dr. King by Lina Buffington, PhD, director of College Retention for Philadelphia Futures. The service projects included creating breakfast bags for elderly shut-ins through Aid for Friends and children’s snack bags and activity bags for the Archdiocesan Nutritional Development Services. The projects reflected the Mercy tradition of service to society and paid tribute to the humanitarian legacy of Dr. King.

Gwynedd-Mercy College students, faculty and staff create children’s snack bags for the Archdiocesan Nutritional Development Services in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
